Mardi Gras, drag balls and politics- where else could these elements come together but in New Orleans? The Sons of Tennessee Williams tells the story of gay men who created a vast culture of popular drag balls in New Orleans starting in the 1950's. The film interweaves archival footage and comtemporary interviews to illuminate the ways in which the emergence of the gay Mardi Gras scene was a seminal factor in the cause of gay liberation in the south. This film charts the evolution of the gay Mardi Gras krewe scene over the decades. Check out the trailer!
